How To Maximize A Video Shoot

March 22, 2022

When it comes to a video shoot, some well-worn sayings always apply:

Time is money
There are only so many hours in a day
Money doesn’t grow on trees
In a galaxy far, far away

Okay, I was just keeping you on your toes with that last one, but you get my drift – video shoots are finite in time but infinite in potential. That’s why I want to provide a few simple tips on maximizing them.

Video Shoots Are a Content Goldmine

Your audience is perpetually thirsty for additional content from you. Thankfully, a shoot day is the perfect opportunity to create such content, not even counting your primary video.

For example, adding a second camera or professional photographer won’t cost a king’s ransom but can provide additional stills and video that you can use elsewhere, first and foremost on your website. The same goes for behind-the-scenes footage, where you can provide a revealing glimpse into the general shooting process or even interview the director and your employees, all valuable content for your video marketing campaign.

Focus on Social Media Content

Expanding on the previous point, a shoot day is especially useful for generating social media content. Whether you’re filming for branding, recruiting, or virtually any other purpose, you can slice and dice the primary video into create quick, concise snippets that are ideal for sharing on social media.

Once again, shooting separate social media content during a shoot day means you’re getting far more bang for your buck. With just a little bit of planning, you can take that separately shot video, edit it into tasty bite-sized morsels, and leverage it across your social media channels.

Don’t Skimp on Your First Shoot

Lastly, if you’re planning your first shoot, keep in mind it’s your initial introduction to your audience, at least on a larger scale. Therefore, you want to wow the viewer, have them hit pause on their busy day, and pay genuine attention to your message. Therefore, adding that drone shot, extra camera, or extra lens can pay massive dividends to the final product and audience engagement levels.

In the big picture, it’s those extra flourishes, even the small and subtle ones, that can boost your brand, establish your company, and even help attract investors. And if you want to know more or need some guidance, we’re always ready to snag the baton. It’s the Castleview Way.
